How to Make Hay with a Scythe

One of my favorite pastimes is to make hay by hand, with a scythe and a hayrake. The sights, and sounds, and the fragrances, are so peaceful and timeless, it really makes me feel connected with nature. The occasional approach of a thunderstorm, adds excitement and sometimes drama to the process. Being able to make your own hay without machines, is very empowering.
For a description of my Pyramid-Framed haystack system see http://scythesupply.com/hayrackworkshop.html  and also the Haystacks post in my blog.

Pushing Hay- The Quicker-Picker-Upper

Windrows of hay that is mostly grass can be gathered up very quickly by pushing and sliding the windrow together with a hayfork.
