Scythe blades for DIY snathmakers

The scythe blades on this webpage are for people that are interested in making their own snaths. I often get asked for scythe blades and accessories for people that want to make their own snath. Information for Wildwood snaths, one grip Romanian-style snaths, and competition snaths are the most commonly available on the internet. All my blades, even the ones that fit my snaths, are of course, suitable for snathmakers. The blades on this page, however, require that you make your own snath, because they are not compatible with the snaths that I sell. Usually because of their tang or hafting angles.

120, 130, & 135 cm Fux Competition Scythe Blades

Picture
120cm (48 in) FUX Competition Scythe Blade
120cm (48in.) to 135cm (54 in) long. "Hartstahl" steel (hard steel). Maehfertig (factory sharpened, and ready-to-mow). For more info on competition mowing, see blog. Even though they have the same tang angle as our own blades, these blades are too long for the snaths that we sell. The 4 ft + length has too much leverage for the snaths we currently sell. I carry them by request, for people who are experimenting with making their own competition style snaths.

Falci 106, aka the "International" Blade. A Greek style blade, this is Falci's most popular blade. 75cm, 48mm wide, 473g. It has what I call a 3/4 belly. It's apex is 3/4 of the way back from the edge. Has a more closed hafting angle, ideal for Wildwood snaths with an offset. Super-sharp. Good for mowing lawns, hayfields, etc. - $95

75cm 2010 Haying Blade

75cm Model 2010 blade. 497g, 50mm mid-width, 30 degree tang. Triple-peened. Great for haying, but it can handle tougher weeds as well, if handled right. In the video below, I am mowing giant ragweed and foxtail, with this blade on a wildwood snath. - $75

New Old-Stock Scythe Blades

These blades are leftover from my years of being associated with Peter Vido, and selling his scythes. Most of these blades were hand-peened by Peter Vido.
